At the time when it will be held, the FIS calendar does not foresee other events, and therefore all fans around the world will nail eyes to Banderishka Polyana. The World Junior Ski Championship in Bansko will be held between 1st and 10th March 2021, immediately after the World Cup.
History of the Ski Cup in Bansko
Thus, for the first time in three consecutive winters, there will be World Cup competitions. After a four-year break, the White Caravan returns to the long weekend from February 22-24, 2019, when the men ride an Alpine combination, a Super G and Giant slalom. In 2020 the ladies decorated the Pirin landscape on 25 and 26 January with downhill and Super G, which automatically brings Bansko into the club of the largest ski resorts. This is because in the first month of the year the privilege of accepting the World Cup has only ski centers of the rank of the Austrian Kitzbühel and Schladming, the Swiss Adelboden and Wengen, the German Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and the Italian Cortina d’Ampezzo.
The town under Mount Todorka appeared on the FIS map as the organizer of top-ranked competitions in 2009. Then Banderishka Polyana welcomed three starts from the Women’s Ski World Cup. In 2011, the white caravan stopped again in the Pirin, with the men in line. The following year, in just a week Bansko cemented its perfect image by conducting in 2 consecutive weekend competitions for both sexes. In 2015 the best skiers again as in 2009 measured forces in Bulgaria, but then one of the starts was postponed due to bad weather. In 2017 and 2018 we hosted the Snowboard World Cup, and the skis returned here in 2019 (men) and 2020 (women).
