In 2022 Bansko Jazz Festival will mark an important anniversary – 25 years of jazz in Bansko. We will enjoy a rich program with international and Bulgarian stars.
With the call “Everyone in jazz!” from 6 to 13 August in Bansko will be held Bansko Jazz Festival 2022. This edition covers wide musical territories with Bulgarian performers and guests from Brazil, USA, Hungary, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Greece, Israel, and Ukraine, as well as the color of Bulgarian jazz, including several projects and collaborations specially created for Bansko.
More than 20 Bulgarian and foreign performers and groups will take to the stage of Bansko Jazz festival this August (6-13.08) to present their musical projects. And this year in the city park of the city. Bansko will have a stage for young talents, but it will build on the Jazz Academy, in which young performers and musicians will have the opportunity to learn from the big names in jazz.
25 years of jazz in Bansko
The opening promises to be impressive and is entrusted to Militsa Gladnishka and the big bend of Angel Zaberski.
In this year’s program, the big names are a lot like Billy Cobham – a landmark name in the world of jazz. Pianist George Cable comes from New York with his quartet. Salvador Sobral, who brought Portugal victory at Eurovision in 2017.
Two nights will take us to Brazil – with Igor Wilcox and his quartet and Rosalia de Sousa. We cannot miss one of the leading Israeli jazz ladies – Daphne Levy; the Soulcrane Quartet from Germany, led by the trumpeter Matthias Schwenger; Austrian “jazz export” Marina&The Kats; from Italy – Ada Montellanico with his quartet. In this rich program, they also find a place in the multicultural formation from the Netherlands – Arifa with the Bulgarian participation of Zhivko Vasilev.
Interesting is the collaboration between one of the most distinguished native jazz pianists in the face of Lyubo Denev and the Armenian singer with an impressive voice Arpi Alto and (especially for the jazz festival in Bansko) the joint project of the trio of the outstanding pianist Zhivko Petrov JP3 and the guitarist Hristo Vichev, who has lived and worked in the USA for years.
