The twelfth edition of the Bansko Opera Fest will be held on August 27 and 28 in the resort town. The productions are from 8.30 pm in the central square “Nikola Vaptsarov”. On the first festival evening, the residents and guests of Bansko will enjoy the opera “The Magic Flute”. The musical “The Man from La Mancha” is the second production of the program of the cultural event.
“The Magic Flute” is the last opera Mozart created. It was composed in two acts, in the popular form Singspiel at the time, which included both spoken dialogue and singing. It was created by Emmanuel Schikaneder – a time-famous actor, director, playwright, impresario, and extraordinary connoisseur of Mozart’s talent.
The production of the Varna Theatre production center “The Magic Flute” is premiered for the year. Directed by António Zamfir from Opera Romana Craiova – Romania, the stage design and costumes are by Asya Stoyemova, and the consultant in stage design is Ivan Tokadzhiev. In the main roles, we will watch Maria Pavlova, Geo Tchobanov, Georgi Sultanov, Plamena Girginova, Lily Ilieva, and Ivo Yordanov. Directed by Stefan Boyadzhiev.
On the Saturday night of August (28th), the musical “The Man from La Mancha” will be presented on the stage of Bansko Opera Fest, music by Mitch Lay, lyrics by Dale Wasserman, and poems by John Darien. The director of the show is Boris Pankin, with which the Varna Theatre and Production Center works for its most successful productions.
Stratsimir Pavlov will stand on the conductor’s board. The stage design of the musical is the work of Ivan Tokadzhiev, the costumes – by Petar Mitev, and the author of the choreography is Boryana Schanova. In the role of Don Quixote will enter Orlin Goranov, his loyal weapon will be Marian Bachev, and Lily Ilieva will be reincarnated in Dulcinea.
