Bansko and Pirin will gather the best mountain and extreme athletes for the climb of Vihren Peak in the Pirin Run 2021 mountain running and cycling competition on June 27.
The event is organized by Bansko Municipality and “Marathon” – a sports club association for the 11th consecutive year.
The competition will be in three disciplines – mountain running 13 km, mountain biking 26 km, and mountain duathlon 29 km. It will include young people and girls, men and women, veterans of all age groups.
The running route starts at 995 m above sea level in Bansko, passes through BanderishkaPolyana, Banderitsa Hut, and Vihren Hut, and the final is on Vihren peak (2914 m).
The start of the cyclists is from the same point as the runners, but with a diversion to the east to St. Nicholas and a finish of Vihren hut (1950 m).
Each participant in the duathlon goes the cycling track first, then – the last 3 km of the running track. The attractive competition is the first event of the cultural and sports calendar BANSKO SUMMER 2021
